Build 7.00.3008
Updated September 2003 © Meridian Project Systems, Inc.
Thank you for your interest in Prolog WebSite 7.0 SP3!
This document contains the latest information about Prolog WebSite 7.0, including important installation information, what's changed and any known issues in this build.
This Service Patch only contains important changes and updates to Prolog WebSite 7.0 SP1. Users who already have Prolog WebSite 7.0 SP1 or SP2 may install SP3. If you are using an earlier version than Prolog WebSite 7.0 SP1, you must first upgrade to SP1, then install this Service Patch.
On a computer where Prolog WebSite 7 has been installed, you can typically find this document in the following location (where "x" is the hard drive where Prolog WebSite is installed):
x:\Program Files\MPS\Prolog WebSite 7\readme.htm
For the latest information about MPS software, see our Web site at www.mps.com.
For detailed information on installing and getting started with Prolog WebSite 7, see the document called "install.htm" on your Prolog Application Suite CD.
Latest SQL Server Service Patch
MPS strongly recommends that you install the latest SQL Server or MSDE service patch before you upgrade to Prolog WebSite 7. Installing this patch can help prevent harmful viruses from affecting your company's computers. If you are running Prolog WebSite 7 on a Windows 2000 Server running SQL Server 2000, you must have the latest service patch. If you do not have the latest service patch installed, you may encounter an error when launching the Prolog WebSite Admin pages.
Upgrading to Prolog WebSite 7 SP3
Important - Document Management Security
After upgrading to Prolog WebSite 7.0, SP1 or SP2, the Project Documents permissions, or feature permissions, for user groups in Document Management may not have been properly upgraded. If a user group did not have full access to Document Management, the upgrade process may have given the user group full access. If you are upgrading from 6.5x, to ensure that your feature permissions are properly upgraded, install Prolog WebSite 7.0 SP1 and then immediately install this service patch. Do not open your databases with Prolog WebSite 7.0 SP1. Only open your databases after you have installed SP3. For users who have already upgraded their databases from 6.5x to 7.0, SP1 or SP2 and used user groups in the feature permissions in 6.5x, please contact MPS' Technical Support Services for further assistance.
Please be advised the system requirements for Prolog Website 7 have changed. There are known limitations with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and IIS 4.0, and therefore these components are no longer supported with Prolog Website 7.
Licensing Prolog WebSite
Prolog WebSite employs a licensing tool called License Manager that enables you to centrally manage your licenses for all the Prolog Application Suite products you use. For information on using License Manager, click Help while using License Manager.

Comments
The Link to Comments feature may not be available for those users running Windows XP. (32722)
Date Format
When creating or updating a record using the date format of dd-mmmm-yyyy, an error may occur and your record may not be saved. To avoid this issue, select a different date format in your Regional Settings. (22542, 22550, 21246)
Document Management
After starting Prolog WebSite 7 for the first time,
opening Document Management automatically downloads new ActiveX controls.
After the download is complete, Prolog WebSite may prompt some users to
restart their computers. If you receive this message, log off from
Prolog WebSite, restart your computer, and then log back on
to Prolog WebSite.
If your company does not allow your browser to download ActiveX controls
from the Internet, you can install them from the Prolog Application Suite
installation CD. You must use the installation CD from the same version of
Prolog WebSite as your are installing. For more information, see
"Knowledge Base item #4671 - Document Management does not load or download
properly" on the MPS Website.
After uploading overtop an existing file, the extension
(1) is currently added to the overwritten file and all subsequent files.
(21973)
In Chinese Prolog WebSite, the File Upload Wizard cannot
currently accept Chinese characters in the 'Heading/Title' and 'Description'
fields. (22165)
Prolog WebSite client computer may run low on memory
after uploading or downloading several files in Document Management. This
issue occurs on clients using Windows NT 4.0 behind MS Proxy 2.0/ISA while
using SSL. As a workaround, open the Windows Task Manager and end the multiple occurrences of "Transfer.exe" to release the system memory. (16274)
When uploading multiple image files in Document Management from a client machine running Windows 98, thumbnails may be created incorrectly. To avoid this issue, upload your image files one at a time. (16390)
After making redlines and closing Prolog Viewer with the
Close, or X, button, the redlines may not be saved (22738)
After selecting multiple files to check in, these files
may not appear in the Check In Wizard. (22737)
When a document is rotated in Prolog Viewer, the redline features are temporarily unavailable for use. Rotating the document back to its original position will allow users to access the redline features
again.
When deleting an earlier file version and its history,
the most current file version may be inaccessible. (32625)
Although a user does not have permissions to the Project
Documents folder, this user may still be able to view files in this folder.
(32505)
When viewing a file that is linked to a record in the
thumbnail or detailed view, you may be able to delete this file. (32439)
If there are multiple versions of a file, you may be able to delete a version of the file that is attached to a record. (32765)
Meetings
Adding either of the following filters to a user's
Meeting Minutes Data Group permissions may cause an error when that user
views a meeting entry: 'Meeting Attendees.Contract ID = @LogonUserContactID'
or 'Meeting Responsible.Meeting Responsible ID = @LogonUserID' (19482)
After entering the pipe character '|' in any meeting item field, clicking 'Update' or 'Submit' will display an error message and delete that item and any items below it in the Meeting Items table. Avoid using the pipe character in the Meeting Items table in all circumstances. On standard US keyboards using English as your input language, the pipe character is entered by holding down the 'SHIFT' key and pressing the backslash '\' key. (17464)
Messages
The Messages form under Administration may only display the "This Project" section. The "All Projects" section may not appear. (32718)
Regional Settings
Ensure that all SQL Servers contain the same regional settings as Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). Otherwise, your date and numbering formats may be misinterpreted.
Request for Information
When using Internet Explorer 5.0, closing an RFI in
Prolog WebSite that was created in Prolog Manager will cause an error. This
error only affects users of Internet Explorer version 5.0 and does not occur
when closing RFIs created in Prolog WebSite. As a workaround, upgrade your
web browser to Internet Explorer version 5.5 or higher. (17949)
If Auto-Increment Numbers is turned on and the Numeric Formatting has a value set in Prolog Manager, when a user creates a new RFI in Prolog WebSite, erases the numbers that automatically populates in the Number field and enters another number, this number will not be formatted properly. However, if a user adds another new RFI, the Number field will be properly formatted. For example, if the Numeric Formatting is set to 3 and a user enters the "2a-2a" in the Number field, the number remains "2a-2a" instead of being formatted to "002a-2a". However, the next record will be automatically incremented and formatted to "003a-2a" depending on the Auto-Increment Number Style. (13500)
After saving an RFI with the Author Company and Author Contact boxes blank, the boxes may be filled in with the general contractor information specified in the Portfolio Manager. (21345)
Running Reports
When running or filtering a Budget Transaction report, some users may encounter problems. Subscribers to ProjectTalk can bypass this issue by running the report in Project Management. All other users should contact Technical Support for assistance.
When running reports in Prolog Website, you may encounter a blank or partially displayed page. The error message "The file path for these reports is not accessible through Prolog Website" may also appear. If either of these situations occur, attempt to run the report again. If the problem persists, please contact Technical Support for further assistance. (14947)
Security Manager
After converting a database from 6.0, the Public and Guest user group permissions are not correctly reflected in Prolog WebSite. Although the user groups may have access in Prolog Manager, they will not have access to these features in Prolog WebSite: Allow Password Change and Subscriptions. (13549, 13560)
Uploaded Files Virtual Directory
A recent Prolog WebSite feature modification requires that to view uploaded documents stored on a remote file server, a virtual directory must be created on the server running Prolog WebSite.
To Create a Virtual Direction
On your Windows 2000 or XP computer, right-click My Computer and select Manage. The Computer Management window opens.
On the Computer Management window, under Services and Applications and under Internet Information Services, right-click Default Web Site, point to New and select Virtual Directory.
The Virtual Directory Creation wizard starts.
Click Next.
Enter an alias for the virtual directory in the Alias field and then click Next.
Enter the folder path where the uploaded documents are located and then click Next. Ensure that you select the root folder where these documents are stored.
Set this virtual directory to Read and Write and then click Next.
Click Finish to create your virtual directory.
User Settings
Certain users may encounter issues after changing their language in the User Settings to Japanese. If you encounter any issues, contact MPS Technical Support Services.
Known Issues Related to Third-Party Components
Document Management
Certain types of GIF (.gif) files may not be viewable in the Prolog Viewer and an error may occur. This is due to the known issue with the RasterX component. To view the file, use the default Windows Viewer.
Due to a known limitation of Rasterex filters, rotating .TXT, .PDF or .XLS documents in Prolog Viewer will cause any text within the document to disappear. (14661)
Installation
When installing Prolog WebSite remotely on Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services, from a Windows 2000 Terminal Services Client or a Citrix Server Client (ICA), MSDE may not be installed properly and the installation prompts may not appear properly. These issues are due to known limitation with Windows Installer. Therefore, the products must be installed on the server. For more information, see Microsoft's knowledge base item Q255582. (12713)
IIS Lockdown
Due to a Microsoft limitation with the IIS LockDown Tool
for the NTFS file system, users may encounter two possible error messages
when uploading files. There are workarounds for both error messages.
Important: The following procedures require you to make modifications to the Urlscan.ini file. Changing the category of the PUT verb to [AllowVerbs] in this file can allow other users to upload data to your Web server.
If you encounter the file transfer error 404:
Locate the "Urlscan.ini" file.
Open Urlscan.ini and move the PUT verb from [DenyVerbs] to [AllowVerbs].
Save the change.
Reset IIS LockDown.
If you encounter the file transfer error 12030, this is because the MS Security Rollup Package (w2kSP2SRP1) was installed on the web server along with the IIS LockDown Tool. To resolve this, IIS LockDown must be reinstalled with the following selections:
Run the IIS LockDown version 2.1 setup.
On page 1 of the setup wizard, select Other (Server that does not match any of the listed roles).
On page 2 of the setup wizard, select Web Service (HTTP).
On page 3 of the setup wizard, clear the Active Server Pages (.asp) and Server side includes (.shtml, .shtm, .stm) check boxes.
On page 4 of the setup wizard, clear the Disable Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) check boxes.
On page 5 of the setup wizard, select Install URLScan filter on the server.
After finishing the setup, in Prolog WebSite set full permission to the Web Anonymous User and Web Application user groups for all folders and subfolders.
Open Urlscan.ini and move the PUT and MKCOL verbs from [DenyVerbs] to [AllowsVerbs].
Save the change.
Reset IIS LockDown.
Note: if you are using an earlier version of IIS LockDown and encounter this error, uninstall your current version and follow the preceding steps.
Due to a Microsoft limitation with the IIS LockDown Tool for the NTFS file system, the Web Anonymous Users group is created and IUSER is assigned to this group with "Deny Write" permission . This creates an issue when installing Prolog WebSite
7.0. There are two workarounds. Either one may be used depending on your needs.
If you have a previous build of Prolog WebSite, completely remove the previous version using Add/Remove Programs, and then delete the Prolog WebSite
7 folder before installing the new version. The Prolog WebSite 7 folder is typically located in the folder path (where x indicates the drive onto which you installed Prolog WebSite):
x:\Program Files\MPS\
Without uninstalling the previous version, ensure that
the Web Anonymous Users group has full permissions to the Prolog WebSite 7
folder and all its subfolders. The Prolog WebSite 7 folder is typically
located in the folder path (where x indicates the drive onto which you
installed Prolog WebSite):
x:\Program Files\MPS\
To ensure that the Web Anonymous Users group has access to its subfolders,
set the folder group security to "Allow inheritable permissions from
parent to propagate this object" on the Prolog WebSite 7 folder.
Crystal Reports Limitation
When exporting a report with a logo that uses an OLE Word document object to MS Word or Excel formats, an error will occur. Either change the logo to a Bitmap format or do not use a logo when exporting the
report. (12703)
When exporting a reports, it cannot be exported to PDF
format. Use Rich Text Format instead.
When exporting a report with a logo to Rich Text Format, the logo will not be saved to the .rtf file. To export a report with a logo, use the Word for Windows format.
When you uninstall Crystal Reports 8.0.0.371 from the Prolog WebSite 7 server, Crystal Reports partially uninstalls the Crystal Smart Viewer for ActiveX component. This component is essential as it enables you to run reports in Prolog WebSite 7. To resolve this issue, see the following steps.
To Restore Crystal ActiveX Component functionality
Select Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel window.
In a Windows 2000 or XP computer, select MPS Prolog WebSite 7 and click Change.
The Prolog WebSite 7 Installation Wizard starts. You may also be prompted to insert the Prolog Application Suite CD. If so, insert the CD that contains the latest release of Prolog WebSite 7.
Click Next.
Select Repair and then click Next.
After repairing Prolog WebSite, restart your computer.
Log on to Prolog WebSite and run a report.
You will be prompted to install Crystal Smart Viewer for ActiveX.
Click OK.
With Prolog Manager installed, when you run a report in Prolog WebSite, the Crystal Viewer may not display the report properly. This is due to a known issue with the Crystal ActiveX component not being downloaded properly to a computer with Prolog Manager installed. A workaround exists for this issue. For Windows 98 and Me, use the Search feature to locate the file crviewer.dll. This workaround applies to Windows 2000:
From the Start menu, click Run.
The Run dialog box appears.
In the Open field, type (where "x" indicates your local drive):
Regsvr32 /u x:\Winnt\System32\crviewer.dll
Click OK.
The crviewer.dll file is unregistered.
In Windows Explorer, locate crviewer.dll in the System32 folder on your hard drive.
Right-click on the file name and Rename it to crviewerold.dll.
In Prolog WebSite, run the report again.
The Crystal Viewer component will be properly downloaded, enabling you to view the file.
In Windows Explorer, locate crviewerold.dll in the System32 folder on your hard drive.
Right-click on the file name and and Rename it to crviewer.dll.
From the Start menu, click Run.
The Run dialog box appears.
In the Open field, type (where "x" indicates your local drive):
Regsvr32 x:\Winnt\System32\crviewer.dll
The file is registered again.
